Phase 1 of residence 'Theodoor' is completed (Barco site, Kortrijk)

The first phase of residence ‘Theodoor’, located in the centre of Kortrijk, is ready! Theodoor is part of ‘Park 1302’, a reconversion of an old industrial zone (Barco site) into a green and pleasant urban living environment. SumResearch developed a masterplan with a general vision of adaptation to the existing environment. This resulted in a mix of housing types within a green setting. SumProject is responsible for the architecture.

The Flemish Government has published the 'Duurzaamheidsmeter Wijken'. The sustainability of neighborhoods can be measured with this tool. Themes such as water, energy, materials, waste, social aspects, cultural aspect, mobility, etc. are covered. Patrick Moyersoen, sustainability expert at Sum, made a significant contribution to this research. 50 YEARS SUM

In 1966, 4 people started a new challenge. Right from the start, the ambition of Jan Tanghe, Jacques Pêtre, Ignaas Deboutte and Willy Canfyn was to create an interdisciplinary group. ‘Groep Planning’ was born. A team of architects, urban planners and engineers worked together on numerous complex projects. By transcending the classic structure of a design agency, ‘Groep Planning’ developed a global vision about (urban) space. The interdisciplinary character was highlighted in 1995 with the integration of ‘Mens en Ruimte’. Sum @ Museum Night Fever 2016

On saturday, March 4th, the ninth edition of the Brussels Museum Night Fever will take place. Among the participants, there are several museums where Sum was and is active. Sum was responsible for the renovation of the old railway station of Schaerbeek and the design of the new adjacent Naional Railway Museum 'Train World'. At the Natural Sciences Museum, Sum was responsible for the restoration of the Janlet wing, which is best know for echibiting the Bernissart Iguanodons.
