Interregional masterplan, Neerpede
SumResearch developed an inter-regional masterplan for the region Neerpede (Brussels-Capital Region) and Vlezenbeek-St-Anna-Pede (Region of Flanders). The region is characterized by three valleys: the Broeckbeek, the Pedebeek and the Vogelzang.
The masterplan contains a vision for development and a concept with guiding principles to achieve the policy objectives. The strategic objectives for this peri-urban area are:
-
The preservation and enhancement of the quality of the landscape
-
The environmental and cultural heritage
-
The agricultural function combined with a sustainable food chain
-
The balanced development of the recreational use of open space
The challenge of the masterplan lies in the cross-border aspect, the large scale and the specificity of the region, an agricultural area on the city’s outskirts. The masterplan has four components: an inventory, a clear vision, an operational component and a communication component.
